At Microsoft, Tharun Kumar Nallamothu was at the forefront of designing and developing Dragon Copilot, an AI-driven clinical assistant revolutionizing healthcare workflows by merging DAX Copilot's ambient clinical intelligence, real-time speech recognition, and generative AI into a singular voice-first clinical documentation platform. Dragon Copilot harmonizes Dragon Medical One's cutting-edge speech-to-text functionality, DAX Copilot's ambient clinical intelligence, and generative AI models to revolutionize clinical documentation workflows and substantially diminish administrative burden on clinicians.
Tharun Kumar Nallamothu involved in software architecture design, integration of AI, and mobile platform optimization to provide ease of use and scalability in stringent healthcare settings. The Dragon Copilot project has achieved several significant achievements, including a 41.9% reduction in clinical documentation time, a 56.6% increase in direct patient interaction, a 29.6% increase in clinical documentation completeness and quality, a 54.7% drop in after-hours charting, a 35.2% reduction in cognitive workload, and a high usability score, with a System Usability Scale score of 81.7, indicating high user satisfaction and acceptance. These improvements have allowed doctors to focus more on patient care during consultations.
This project is reflective of my passion for utilizing state-of-the-art AI technologies to drive healthcare delivery, re-imagine clinician workflow, and enable human-centered digital health innovation. By combining technical prowess with healthcare domain expertise and collaborative leadership, I have been able to position Microsoft at the forefront of AI-based clinical decision support and documentation solutions that optimize provider efficiency while improving patient care quality.
